Bernardo Silva: Man City being short-changed by marginal refereeing decisions

City were held to a 2-2 draw by relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, a result that left the defending champions seven points behind league leaders Arsenal. The dropped points have intensified the pressure on Pep Guardiola's side as the season enters its decisive phase.

Silva's frustrations centred on a controversial moment in the match when City believed they should have been awarded a penalty while leading 2-1.

Striker Erling Haaland went down in the penalty area after rounding Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels, prompting loud appeals from the home players and supporters.

"So, if Erling is running and the goalkeeper just crashes into him, what can he do, just disappear?" Silva said.

The incident was reviewed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), but officials ultimately cleared the challenge and no penalty was given.

Silva insisted after the match that the decision was incorrect, suggesting that such marginal calls appear to be consistently going against City.

He added: "I just think that all the 50-50s this season have gone against us - all of them, and it's quite frustrating because, at the end, it makes a big difference in the title race."

Despite the setback, City remain firmly in the title race and still have a game in hand on Arsenal.
