Bobby Motaung says Kaizer Chiefs strong enough without January reinforcements

Amakhosi only brought in Xhosa Manyana for their DStv Diski Challenge side last month, while releasing a number of players on loan, including Nkosana Mbuthu (Leicesterford City, loan), Manqoba Ozoemena (Casric Stars, loan), Bobo Sima (Mochudi Centre Chiefs, loan), Ofentse Kgosana (Casric Stars, loan).

Motaung explaining he was happy with the current squad, who have lifted their club into third place on the Betway Premiership standings with 30 points from 15 games - just five points adrift of league leaders Orlando Pirates.

Chiefs are unbeaten in their last nine league game, with their last loss a Nedbank Cup last 32 defeat to Stellenbosch.

An upbeat Motaung explained in the Citizen: "We are happy with the squad, we brought in a lot of new players (in August) and young players from development.

"We have a lot of competitions and some have not played even now. They haven't been given a chance because of the depth we have."

"We can't complain about the quality of players, and the unity, the team spirit. We thought 'let's not interrupt that'. New players can bring a change in the changing room and the mood," he added.

Chiefs are next in action against Zamalek in their final CAF Confederation Cup Group D encounter on Saturday. They currently top the group, and need just a point to guarantee their place in the knockout rounds.
