Brentford sign forward Jaidon Anthony from Burnley

Brentford sign forward Jaidon Anthony from Burnley

The 26-year-old returns to London after starting his career in Arsenal's academy, and Bees boss Keith Andrews believes he will fit well into the club's playing style.

"We've been aware of Jaidon's journey for a long, long time and have always admired him from afar," Andrews said.

"He did really well last season, which is difficult in a team that got relegated. After meeting him, it became very evident that he'd fit into the culture of the club and add to the squad."

Anthony departs Burnley after two seasons at Turf Moor, initially joining on loan from Bournemouth before making the move permanent. He made 81 appearances for the Clarets, scoring 17 goals.

The forward played a key role in Burnley's promotion campaign, scoring eight times as they reached 100 points in the Championship. Despite their Premier League relegation last season, Anthony still impressed with nine goals and four assists in 38 appearances.

Anthony thanked Burnley's supporters following his exit, saying: "The time has come for me to say goodbye. Thank you to every player, staff member and fan who has supported me. It means more than you know."

Bournemouth will receive a 15 percent sell-on fee from the transfer, following an agreement made when Anthony joined Burnley permanently.

The signing follows Brentford's capture of defender Jannik Schuster from RB Salzburg and adds further depth to a squad that finished ninth in the Premier League last season. The Bees open their new campaign against Tottenham, while Burnley return to the Championship against West Ham on 16 August.
