Bruno Fernandes: No excuse for Man Utd's defeat against West Ham

The United captain fronted up after the loss at Old Trafford - the team's 17th league defeat of the season - and refused to make excuses, despite manager Ruben Amorim making six changes to the side that beat Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League semi-final.

United's focus has increasingly shifted to the Europa League, where they will face Tottenham in the final. The competition is now viewed as a crucial opportunity to salvage a campaign marked by inconsistency and underperformance.

Still, Fernandes was adamant that the squad's mindset must remain focused, regardless of the stakes in Europe.

He also dismissed suggestions that squad rotation or end-of-season fatigue contributed to the loss against West Ham, reinforcing his role as a leader determined to demand more from his teammates.

"No, it can't make (a) difference because everyone has been training very hard, very well, so everyone is prepared to play at any moment. So, I don't think that's the point because I think all the team is prepared for that," Fernandes told MUTV.

"Every chance and every opportunity is a chance to get into the next 11 and the next 11, and the next 11, so you have to get your chance, you have to get your opportunity.

"It doesn't matter if you've been playing less or more, if you get your chance, if you do things rightly, then you can end up playing."
