Baloni, 25, joined Chippa on a season-long loan at the start of the 2024/25 campaign in search of regular game time after struggling for minutes at Pirates.
The dynamic midfielder had signed with the Buccaneers from Cape Town All Stars in July 2023 and, despite collecting two MTN8 winners' medals, made just 13 appearances under coach Jose Riveiro in his debut season.
Falling further down the pecking order, the decision was made to send Baloni to Gqeberha in hopes of revitalizing his form - and it paid off.
The midfielder quickly established himself as a key figure in Chippa's engine room, racking up 19 appearances across all competitions, contributing one goal and one assist.
However, his upward trajectory was halted by injury in early March, with his last appearance coming in a goalless draw against Richards Bay.
Despite his absence in the season's latter stages, coach September was full of praise for the on-loan midfielder's overall impact.
"He did well for us. It's unfortunate that he got injured, but during the time he was available, he played a big role. He's one of the reasons we were able to pull clear of the relegation zone with four or five games to spare. Players like him helped us a lot," September was quoted by Sportswire.com.
With Chippa all but securing their top-flight status for the 2025/26 season, September acknowledged the need for reinforcements ahead of the new campaign, while also applauding the balance within his current squad.
"We definitely need to refresh the team, even though I believe we have a strong group - a good mix of youth and experience. What's especially encouraging is how the younger players stepped up in the second half of the season," he added.
"That gives us great motivation as a technical team. Now it's about going into the market and finding even better quality if we want to take the next step."
With the loan deal set to expire, Balone is expected to go back to his parent club Pirates, where he will be looking to fight for a place in the team next season.
