CAF cracks the whip on Senegal and Morocco for AFCON 2025 final chaos

The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) has been fined a total amount of $615 000 for their disruptive behaviour whilst the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) was fined $315 000.

A number of players and Lions of Teranga coach Pape Thiaw did not come out unscathed, with the Senegalese mentor banned for five Confederation of African Football (CAF) matches due to "unsporting conduct" and "bringing the game into disrepute".

English Premier League based duo Iliman Ndiaye (Everton) and Ismaila Sarr (Crystal Palace) also received two-match bans for "unsporting behaviour towards the referee".

Meanwhile, current African Footballer of the Year and Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi was also handed a two-match ban, with teammate Ismael Saibari handed a three-match ban and a $100 000 fine.

It is unclear if the respective federations will appeal the sanctions.
