Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali leaves Chippa United

The 29-year-old recently featured in all of Nigeria's matches at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, helping his nation to claim a bronze medal at the tournament.

However, the shot-stopper had yet to feature for Chippa since his return from national duty, with Dumisani Msibi and Elson Sithole starting the one match each this year in wins against Orbit College and Durban City.

According to a statement by the club, Nwabali formally submitted a request to depart club, with the club agreeing to grant him his release while thanking him for his contribution to the Chilli Boys.

Nwabali made 76 appearances for chairman Chippa Mpengesi's side, conceding 80 goals and keeping 25 clean sheets.

It is unclear what the goalkeepers next move will be, but he is free to immediately join any club as a free agent.
