Cedric Kaze backs Kaizer Chiefs to improve when injured stars return

Amakhosi have enjoyed a good run in all competitions since the start of 2026, winning four straight matches with a 1-0 scoreline and currently sit in third spot on the Betway Premiership table.

However, there is a growing concern about the lack of goals scored by the Soweto giants despite their encouraging spell of good form.

"The lack of goals, I will put in context," said Kaze to reporters ahead of the Nedbank Cup Round of 32 clash on Wednesday against Stellenbosch.

"When we started the second phase of the league and towards the end of the first phase, we had many injuries and important offensive players like Lilepo, Sirino and when you have your best offensive players injured, you take a blow."

Amakhosi have only scored more than one goal in a match on three occasions this season, which includes the 2-0 win in the Betway Premiership opener against Stellies.

"I'm pretty sure with the games progressing, we will get better," added the coach.

"We have players coming back from injury, George Matlou, Thabo Cele, Ox (Mthethwa), Cross, and these players will add quality we need. Sometimes you can' t rotate too much, even Ighodaro is injured but we expect him to be here in the next two weeks."

Chiefs will be looking to get their Nedbank Cup title defence off to a good start against Stellenbosch on Wednesday, kick-off is at 19h00.
