Gavin Hunt admits Kaizer Chiefs can win Betway Premiership ahead of Nedbank Cup clash

Amakhosi have defied their critics with some impressive form in both the Betway Premiership and CAF Confederations Cup in recent weeks.

Despite losing head coach Nasreddine Nabi at the beginning of the season, co-head coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze have done an exceptional job with the team.

They currently sit in third place on the league standings, just five points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, and gave themselves a good chance of progressing on the continent with two back-to-back victories over ZESCO United recently.

Hunt, who endured a brief spell with Chiefs during the 2020/21 campaign, admits he has been impressed by their form.

"They (Chiefs) are much more settled than us and on a better run. They have won a few games now and haven't conceded," Hunt said.

"That is testament to the coaching staff and players. They lost their coach (Nasreddine Nabi) early in the season and these guys (Ben Youssef and Kaze) have stepped in and done a good job. You have to give them credit.

“They are a good side, they are playing more free flowing (now). They have won a few games and have a bit of confidence. The league position doesn't lie.”

"They are doing very well and they could win the league this year, the head coach added.
