Cameroon international goalkeeper Andre Onana rushed to hospital after car crash in Turkey

The 30-year-old, who is currently on loan at Turkish Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor, was involved in an accident on Thursday night, just hours after helping his side secure a clean sheet in their Conference League victory over Scottish club Hearts, The Sun UK reported.

Images of the incident subsequently circulated on social media, with reports suggesting that another vehicle struck Onana's car from behind at high speed.

The goalkeeper was reportedly taken to hospital for medical examinations following the collision, with initial assessments indicating that he had escaped serious injury.

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan also provided an update on the situation, reassuring supporters about the condition of the former Ajax and Inter Milan goalkeeper.

"Andre Onana was involved in a road traffic accident earlier this evening. There are no problems with him, and we wish him a speedy recovery," the club said.

Onana joined Manchester United from Inter Milan in 2023 in a deal reportedly worth around 43.8 million pounds, arriving at Old Trafford with high expectations after helping the Italian side reach the UEFA Champions League final.

However, his time in England was marked by inconsistent performances and costly errors, which attracted criticism from supporters and pundits.

His position at United subsequently came under scrutiny, and he moved to Trabzonspor on loan as he sought regular playing time and an opportunity to rebuild his confidence.

The accident comes as the Cameroon international attempts to regain momentum in his career in Turkey.
