Cape Town City set to lose experienced trio following failed promotion bid

The Citizens ended in second place on the 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship table behind Champions Kruger United.

After missing out on automatic promotion, they were then unable to see off Magesi or Milford in the relegation/promotion play-offs, with Milford securing promotion for the 2026/27 top-flight campaign.

Head coach Jan Vreman has since parted ways with the club, while a number of player departures are also expected.

The experienced trio of Timm, Ngcobo and Ngobeni had a limited impact at City and are now ready to be moved on.

Keagan Dolly's future at the club also remains a doubt, with FARPost reporting: "It was always clear at the tail end of the season that Timm, Ngcobo, and Ngobeni no longer have their future at CT City.

"The trio had limited involvement in the play-offs, a crucial campaign in which experienced players would be needed to carry the team.

“There are 50-50 chances of Keagan Dolly staying or leaving the club. There have been talks between the club and the attacker for a contract renewal.”
