Carling Knockout last 16 wrap: Richards Bay and holders Magesi progress

The Natal Rich Boyz have struggled in the Betway Premiership this season but were too strong for struggling Chippa United as they cruised to a 4-1 win.

Ntlonelo Bomelo opened the scoring at the Richards Bay Stadium after just four minutes.

Knox Mutizwa added a quick-fire second after seven minutes, and despite Azola Tshobeni reducing te deficit on 25 minutes, Richards Bay restored their lead through Mutizwa after 37 minutes and Lundi Mahala sealed the result with goal in the third minute of extra-time.

Magesi beat Mamelodi Sundowns to win last season's Carling Knockout, and got this season's campaign underway with a 3-2 away win over AmaZulu.

Kgomotso Mosadi scored first for Magesi after 26 minutes and Abbey Seseane added a second on 33 minutes..

Athini Maqokola pulled a goal back on 56 minutes and Mlondi Mbanjwa levelled with his 71st minute strike, but Thabiso Kutumela secured the win for Magesi with his goal a minute into stoppage time at the end of the match.
