Casric Stars eye historic Nedbank Cup and MFC promotion double

The team, currently fourth in the MFC with 38 points - just two behind leaders Milford - also have a semifinal date in the Nedbank Cup against Durban City at Chatsworth Stadium today at 15h00. A win in both competitions would be a first in the club's history.

Midfielder Mlungisi Zwane said the players are motivated to achieve the double. "That will be a dream come true for every player at Casric Stars," Zwane said during the club media day at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

"We talk about it all the time: imagine winning the league and the Nedbank Cup in the same season. We want to go all out in both competitions and make history."

Casric have earned a reputation as giant killers this season, having knocked out Premier Soccer League sides Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu. Zwane insists the team are not surprised by their run so far. "We always believe we are a good side," he said. "Beating Pirates and AmaZulu was huge, but we still think we can do even better.

"Now we just want to go all the way and focus on improving our game."

Durban City have been formidable at Chatsworth Stadium this season, remaining unbeaten at home, but Zwane is confident his side can overcome them. "They are strong at home, but we've shown we can win away against tough teams. We will try to do the same on Saturday and see what we can achieve," he added.

With history within reach, Casric Stars are determined to keep their giant-killing run alive and aim for a season no fan will forget.
