Cassius Mailula: Home is where Sundowns is

Having returned to Toronto FC following the end of his loan stint at Wydad Athletic Club, Mailula is currently assessing his next chapter, with his agent confirming three concrete offers already on the table.

While he's not shutting the door on a return to the Premier Soccer League (PSL), the former Mamelodi Sundowns star insists that a comeback would only make sense if it aligned with his long-term goals.

"You can't block an opportunity to come back home - it depends on what's being offered and what their plan is for me. I wouldn't say I'm closing that door because you never know in football. But I'm ambitious, and my dream is still to play in Europe," Mailula told Metro FM, as quoted by iDiski Times.

His maturity shines through as he acknowledges his current obligations at Toronto FC, noting he still has "unfinished business" at the MLS club, despite limited impact during his first spell.

"For now, I'm still contracted to Toronto. I've got to respect them, and I feel I still have a lot to offer there," he said.

What's undeniable is his deep connection to Sundowns - a club that helped launch his professional career. Asked whether a return to the PSL would mean looking at other local giants like Kaizer Chiefs, Mailula didn't hesitate.

"I love Sundowns... Sundowns is home. Even the president and chairman know - that is my first love," he added.

"Before I can think of other things or teams, I'll obviously start with Sundowns. If things don't work out in negotiations, only then will I look elsewhere."
