Kaizer Chiefs suffer pre-season defeat to Utrecht
Kaizer Chiefs lost 4-0 to FC Utrecht in their second pre-season friendly encounter in the Netherlands, on Friday afternoon.
The 26 year-old son of former Maritzburg United forward Donovan Chislett was signed by the Betway Premiership side as a free agent after leaving English League Two side Port Vale.
Chislett played 82 times for the Valiants, scoring 15 goals and creating a further eight.
He made his debut in the 2-1 pre-season friendly loss to Vitesse alongside fellow new signings Flavio Silva, Thabiso Monyane and Nkanyiso Shinga and is expected to feature again when Amakhosi take on Utrecht on Friday.
Reflecting on his decision to move to Chiefs, the former Aldershot and Wimbledon attacker said in the Citizen: "An affiliation with the South African game has always been there, I guess through my dad. It has always been something I looked up to.
"I always looked at Chiefs' results since I was young. It has always been Chiefs.
"I know that Sundowns in recent years have done really, really well in the league, but if there's any team that can knock them off their pedestal, I think it's Chiefs."
On his best position, the player explained that he is versatile, adding: "I've played everywhere in the midfield – 6, 8, 10. I've played left-wing and right-wing and I have played as a striker a few times, more like a false No 9. I enjoy all the positions but my position is number 10.
“Creativity and goal-scoring, those are two things that really get me going as a player.”
