Cedric Kaze says a lack of composure cost Kaizer Chiefs in Polokwane City stalemate

Cedric Kaze says a lack of composure cost Kaizer Chiefs in Polokwane City stalemate

Neither side was able to find a breakthrough at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, with Glody Lilepo the closest to finding a breakthrough for Amakhosi with a dipping 30-yard free-kick that was tipped over the crossbar by Lindokuhle Mathebula.

The result left Kaze's charges in third place on the league standings with 46 points from 24 games, seven clear of AmaZulu in fourth place.

Rise and Shine are down in seventh place with 34 points from their 24 matches.

Reflecting on the encounter, a downbeat Kaze explained his side failed to assert themselves against a top eight chasing Polokwane.

"I thought we were better in the first half of the game but we lacked some composure. Instead of taking an extra touch, we were just taking one touch. That showed it was being played quicker than how it should be," Kaze said on IOL.

"We knew Polokwane City would defend and try to catch us on the transitions with a lot of long balls. By the end of the second half, though, we lost a bit of control of the game and allowed them to gain confidence and get into attacking situations."

Kaze added that despite making positives changes in the second half, they were still unable to force a result.

"In previous games, our impact players were making a change in the game, but today they didn't. That's something we are going to look at," he said.

Chiefs are next in action against a title-chasing Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
