The Lombardy club will welcome United on Wednesday, with the former Arsenal midfielder relishing the opportunity after overseeing a 3-1 victory away to Fiorentina on Sunday. That result kept Como fifth in the Serie A table.
Como have enjoyed a remarkable rise in recent years, having competed in Serie D in 2019 before securing promotion back to the Italian top flight in May 2024.
Their return to Serie A came after achieving three promotions in six seasons, following two bankruptcies over the previous two decades.
Their European journey marks another significant milestone, with the club entering continental competition for the first time in its 119-year history.
"They are a great team," Fabregas said of Manchester United.
"Just three years ago, when we were in Serie B, it would have been unthinkable that Manchester United might come to the Sinigaglia [stadium] -- yet on Wednesday, that is exactly what will happen. For us, it's a dream come true; we'll take our chances."
His side began the campaign impressively with a 4-1 home win against Leipzig but suffered a 3-2 defeat away to Feyenoord last week, leaving them with one victory and one loss from their opening two matches.
He added: "For us, every day is an important step in our growth. We are a new club-not in terms of our history, but because we started from scratch three years ago. Consequently, we have to be careful in how we manage a great many situations."
