Chris Wood ruled out as Sean Dyche battles Nottingham Forest injury crisis

Wood, who rejoined his former Burnley boss earlier this season, has yet to feature since Dyche's arrival and will remain sidelined this weekend. The New Zealand forward had been tipped to return for the visit of Ruben Amorim's side, but Dyche has revealed he is still not ready for action.

"Wood is possible for the Leeds game, but won't make this one," Dyche said. "We will have to see how that goes."

Forest are currently enduring a difficult spell in front of goal, having gone 448 minutes without scoring in the Premier League.

Dyche, however, has suggested that Wood could return in early November to help turn things around at the City Ground.

The manager also provided an update on several other injured players, confirming that goalkeeper Angus Gunn, full-back Ola Aina, and midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko will all miss the meeting with United.

"Ola's making good progress," Dyche added. "Zinchenko's a no at the moment, unfortunately, that one's going to be a bit longer than we thought. Bakwa's still a no, but is making good progress. Unfortunately, I have to read them off here so I don't forget them. We're hoping there are no more injuries, that's for sure."

Forest, who have failed to win in their last five league games, will look to end their scoring drought and climb away from the lower half of the table when United visit the City Ground on Saturday afternoon.
