Crystal Palace secure forward Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves

The 25-year-old arrives at Selhurst Park on a four-and-a-half-year contract and will wear the number 22 shirt. Palace have paid an initial 43 million pounds fee, with a further 5 million pounds in potential add-ons, marking the second time the club has broken its transfer record during the current window following the arrival of Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur.

Strand Larsen departs Wolves after 18 months at Molineux, having joined the club from Celta Vigo in 2024. During his time in England's top flight, he made 54 appearances and scored 15 Premier League goals. Fourteen of those came last season as Wolves secured their survival under Vitor Pereira, though he has managed only one league goal during the current campaign.

The move had initially been driven by uncertainty surrounding Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta, who was close to completing a 30 million pounds transfer to AC Milan. The French striker, who has been managing a knee issue, underwent an initial medical assessment followed by further tests, but the Italian club ultimately withdrew from the deal. As a result, Mateta remains at Palace and will now compete alongside Strand Larsen in the Eagles' attacking options.

Strand Larsen expressed his enthusiasm after completing the switch, saying he had long hoped to join the south London club and was eager to contribute.

“I'm really excited to come to Crystal Palace. It's been something I've wanted to do for a long time now. I'm here to bring energy and goals, and to try to do my best for the club,” he said.

Chairman Steve Parish welcomed the signing, stating the club expects the Norwegian international to make a lasting impact.

Meanwhile, Palace were unable to complete a loan-to-buy deal for Everton winger McNeil after the required paperwork was not finalised before the deadline, bringing an end to their attempts to secure the wide player in this window.
