Dan Burn signs Newcastle United contract extension through 2027

The 33-year-old local favourite has enjoyed a standout season at St. James' Park, earning his first senior England cap in March - just days after helping Newcastle lift the Carabao Cup, their first domestic trophy in nearly 70 years.

Burn's form has now been further recognised with a call-up to the national squad for England's upcoming World Cup qualifier against Andorra and a friendly against Senegal. Head coach Thomas Tuchel named the towering defender in his squad on Friday, following what has been a consistent and influential campaign for both club and country.

"Dan has had an incredible season. He has been a key part of our most memorable moments and has rightly been rewarded with senior international football," said Newcastle manager Eddie Howe. "His consistency, leadership, and work ethic have made him an integral figure in our dressing room."

Since joining his boyhood club in 2021, Burn has made 36 Premier League starts this season, anchoring a defence that has helped Newcastle remain competitive in both domestic and European competitions.

Speaking after signing the new deal, Burn expressed his desire to see out the rest of his career on Tyneside.

"It's a dream come true to be playing for this club, and I'm delighted that I get to keep doing it," Burn said. "If I can finish my career here, it would mean the world to me."

The contract extension is a significant move for both player and club, as Newcastle continue to blend long-term planning with the stability provided by experienced leadership figures like Burn. The defender's physical presence, aerial dominance, and versatility have made him a key component in Howe's back line, while his passion for the club resonates strongly with supporters.

With his future now secured and international recognition growing, Burn's fairytale run at Newcastle shows no signs of slowing down.
