Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart set for European switch, misses Netherlands tour
Kaizer Chiefs have jetted off to the Netherlands without their skipper, Yusuf Maart, as the midfielder edges closer to sealing a move abroad - reportedly to Austria.
The 35-year-old former Bidvest Wits, Kortrijk, Leuven and Cape Umoya goalkeeper has been with the Citizens since 2021.
He leaves having made 104 appearances while keeping 40 clean sheets, and after a season where the club, who had previously never finished outside the top eight, were relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship via the play-offs.
Keet said on social media: "I want to say sorry for the way things ended this season, I know it has been a tough ride, it has been a tough year to go through for everyone involved in the football club as well as our fans out there who come week in and week out to support the team.
"Unfortunately this is not the way we wanted it to end but it had to happen to someone."
Keet went on to thank the supporters for their unwavering support for both him and the team before announcing his exit.
"Myself and Cape Town City have decided to part ways," he explained. "It's been a wonderful four years. It has been a dream for me to play for Cape Town City, it's just unfortunate it had to end this way but I wish everyone at the club well.
"Cape Town City is a very ambitious club and will be back in the PSL, the experienced campaigner emphasised.
