David Moyes demands Everton "change history" at Bournemouth following Newcastle loss

The Toffees had beaten Manchester United earlier in the week, but Saturday's collapse exposed injuries and fatigue across the squad.

"You have to deal with what comes along," Moyes said. "We had a great result on the Monday night and not so good on Saturday, but that is football. The team have done so well over the past year."

Everton's record at Bournemouth remains poor, They have won only two matches at Bournemouth's home ground: one in the FA Cup (2016) and one in the EFL Cup (1985/86), something Moyes wants to put right. "It is one of the smallest Premier League grounds, but Bournemouth and their manager are doing an exceptional job. It is a tough place for any team," he added.

Squad stretched

Everton remain without Merlin Rohl, Jarrod Branthwaite and Seamus Coleman, leaving the squad thin, especially at the back. "We carried a few boys with injuries into the Newcastle game," Moyes said.

"There are a lot of games now, so there will be more injuries and suspensions. The squad will be stretched."

Barry backed to deliver

Striker Thierno Barry is still chasing his first Everton goal, but Moyes insisted he has the club's full support. "We are giving him the chance to show what he can do," he said. "The supporters have backed him big time. But as a number nine, you need to take your opportunities."

Newcastle a reminder of levels

Moyes said Newcastle's progress over the past four to five years showed the standard Everton must reach. "They have had Champions League football and spent really well," he explained. "To get to that level, we need time and the right signings."

Moyes ended his media duties with a smile after being reminded of Everton's record at Bournemouth. "One of these days, one of the questions from BBC Mersey is going to be positive," he joked.
