Durban City come back from a goal down to win Nedbank Cup trophy

Galaxy drew first blood in the showpiece game, taking the lead two mintes before the halftime break, as Durban City made a mess of defending a corner.

Goalkeeper Darren Keet was left furious when, after a scramble in the box, Jean Lwamba appeared to put the ball into his net - although Galaxy's Seluleko Mahlambi wheeled away in celebration.

Both teams looked nervy in the opening stanza with possession continually being needlessly given away and both attacks struggling to mark their mark.

Durban City, however, found something just 11 minutes after the interval when Mfanafuthi Mkhize found the back of the net for the equaliser.

It was a soft goal to concede for the Rockets as the defence allowed a ball to ghost through the entire box before Mkhize applied the finish at the back-post.

The final's winning goal was a beauty as Lwamba made amends for his earlier mishap with a thundering strike to give Durban City the lead with 20 minutes remaining.

The victory for Durban City means a KZN-based team claimed the Nedbank Cup trophy for the first time in the tournament's history.
