Durban City return to winning ways as Chippa record first Betway Premiership win

Durban City 2-0 Siwelele

Durban City picked up their first win in four Betway Premiership encounters with a 2-0 result against Siwelele on Tuesday night.

Letsie Koapeng broke the deadlock on his debut at the Chatsworth Stadium with his goal just three minutes before time, while Trevor Mokwena sealed the result with his effort after 52 minutes.

It was City's third win of the new season to lift them on to 11 points in fourth place and leave Siwelele down in 13th place with just one win from their opening six matches.

Alongside Koapeng, fellow new signing Terrence Mashego also made his debut for the club

Both sides were evenly matched in the first half, but City headed down the tunnel the happier of the two sides after Koapeng netted from close range after the ball broke to him inside the box.

Mokwena finished a similar effort after the break to put Hunt's charges in the driving seat, and they maintained their momentum until the final whistle.

Chippa United 2-1 Orbit College

Chippa United recorded their first win of the new season with a 2-1 victory against fellow Betway Premiership strugglers Orbit College.

The Chilli Boys have already seen a number of managerial changes this season but new head coach Luc Eymael picked up a massive three points in his first game in charge.

Xolani Sithole opened the scoring at the Buffalo City Municipality Stadium after 36 minutes and Justice Figuareido sealed the win after 82 minutes.

Siyabulela Mabele netted a 91st minute consolation goal for Orbit.

Chippa ended the evening in 14th place with four points from six games while Orbit College are down in 16th place with three points.
