Eric Tinkler eyes Nedbank Cup glory to secure Sekhukhune's CAF qualification

Babina Noko will take on Motsepe Foundation Championship log leaders Milford FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday in their Nedbank Cup quarter final.

Eric Tinkler's side will be looking to progress past the last eight stage of the tournament for the first time since losing the 2022/23 final to Orlando Pirates.

Sekhukhune currently occupy third spot on the Betway Premiership table, which would secure CAF Confederation Cup qualification should the team end the season in that position.

"We want to finish in the top three, because we want to be involved in CAF," said Tinkler at the pre-match conference.

"Now, if we can get an opportunity to get there through the Nedbank, that will be beneficial because this competition will not be the last game of the season. We will have four league games after this competition. And those four matches can determine a lot of things."

The Bafana Bafana legend also revealed that he is expecting their lower division opponents to raise their game for their clash on Saturday.

"What we know is that those players from the lower division league will raise their game; they will play with a lot of energy and effort; they are all inspired to be where our players are," added the coach.

"So, if we don't match their efforts, it will be difficult. Quality doesn’t guarantee you anything. That has been the struggle. We felt it against Highbury and the University of Pretoria and managed to get results."

Kick-off is set for 18h00.
