Federico Gatti strikes late as Juventus draw Roma thriller

Juventus arrived in the capital under pressure, having exited Europe in midweek and without a league win in three matches. But they showed resilience to keep their UEFA Champions League qualification hopes alive, even if the draw stretched their winless run to four games.

Roma made the brighter start at the Stadio Olimpico. Niccolo Pisilli burst through early on and forced a sharp save from Mattia Perin, before Lorenzo Pellegrini fired the rebound over the bar. The warning signs were there for Juve.

The breakthrough came in the 39th minute. Pisilli shifted the ball wide to Wesley, who curled a superb right-footed effort into the far corner from the edge of the box, leaving Perin with no chance.

Juventus responded immediately after the restart. Just two minutes into the second half, Francisco Conceicao smashed home a fierce left-footed volley after Teun Koopmeiners' free-kick had been recycled into his path. It was only his third league goal of the campaign, but it brought Juve level at 1-1.

Roma, however, hit back with authority. Evan Ndicka restored the lead seven minutes later, finishing from close range after Pellegrini's clever corner routine. Moments later, Donyell Malen made it 3-1, lifting a composed finish over Perin after being sent clear by Manu Kone. It was Malen's sixth goal since his January loan move.

Juventus refused to fold. Jeremie Boga pulled one back with a composed finish at the far post after a deflected cross fell kindly for him. Then, deep into stoppage time, Gatti struck from inside the box after a set-piece delivery caused chaos, firing home to seal a dramatic 93rd-minute equaliser.

The draw leaves Roma three points clear of fifth place, while Juventus sit four points behind the Giallorossi in sixth, still firmly in the race for Champions League football.

Elsewhere on Sunday, AC Milan beat US Cremonese 2-0 with two goals after the 90th minute, while Torino FC defeated SS Lazio 2-0 at home. Sassuolo also claimed a 2-1 win over Atalanta BC.

At the top of the table, Inter Milan remained 10 points clear following their victory over Genoa on Saturday, tightening their grip on the title race.
