Federico Valverde: Real Madrid will bounce back after Copa del Rey defeat

The midfielder, visibly emotional after the game, reassured supporters that the team would bounce back stronger despite the crushing defeat.

The match was a rollercoaster of emotions. Barcelona took an early lead through Pedri's goal, but Real Madrid responded with goals from Kylian Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni, putting them 2-1 ahead.

However, the drama was far from over, as Ferran Torres equalised for Barcelona in the 84th minute, forcing the match into extra time.

With tensions running high, the match was ultimately decided by a 116th-minute strike from Barcelona's Jules Kounde, securing their victory and the trophy.

"We are not going to give up," said Valverde via social media.

"It happened again. And it will surely happen many more times, because this is the path we're building, and it's normal for someone to fall after so many kilometres.

"It saddens me, it makes me angry, it makes me feel helpless. I feel like I'm letting them down.

"It's been a complicated year, physically and mentally very tough, but one day I was clear: 'until my legs give out.'

"This club deserves nothing less. We will be back, we will continue, and I'll be there giving it my all out of respect for Madrid, its people, and everything that comes with playing for the most successful team in history."
