Benfica also maintained their perfect record, but Sunderland suffered their first league-phase defeat after losing at home to GNK Dinamo.

Milan 0-2 Ferencvaros

Ferencvaros continued their outstanding European campaign by beating Milan 2-0 away from home to make it four wins from four matches. Lenny Joseph was the star of the evening, scoring both goals to leave the Italian giants with just three points from their opening four fixtures.

Milan goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani, making his full debut, initially kept his team in the contest with five saves against Joseph alone. However, the striker finally broke the deadlock early in the second half before racing clear on a counter-attack to double the visitors' advantage. Ferencvaros finished with 10 men after Bamidele Yusuf was sent off late on, but Milan could not take advantage.

Sparta Praha 1-3 Bournemouth

Bournemouth maintained their perfect start to their debut European campaign with a 3-1 comeback victory over Sparta Praha in the Czech Republic. The hosts took the lead through an excellent solo effort from Ebrima Singhateh, while Lewis Cook missed a penalty after hitting the post.

Sparta were reduced to 10 men when Tobias Guddal was sent off before half-time, and Bournemouth made their numerical advantage count after the break. Substitute Tyler Adams equalised after reacting quickest to a loose ball before fellow replacements Evanilson and Rayan completed the turnaround. Rayan's goal was his third of the campaign.

Celtic 3-2 Besiktas

Celtic finally got their Europa League campaign going with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Besiktas at home. Callum Osmand and Camilo Duran made the difference after coming off the bench, with Durán scoring twice in a memorable finish.

The first half produced little goalmouth action, but Junior Olaitan gave Besiktas the lead after reacting quickest when Sam Johnstone saved his penalty. Osmand and Duran then turned the match around for Celtic before Orkun Kokcu produced a superb effort to make it 2-2. However, Duran struck again late on to secure Celtic's first points of the league phase.

Sunderland 0-2 GNK Dinamo

Sunderland suffered their first defeat of the Europa League league phase as GNK Dinamo claimed a convincing 2-0 victory at the Stadium of Light. Luka Stojkovic opened the scoring with an excellent volley midway through the first half before setting up Dion Beljo to double the visitors' advantage before the break.

Regis Le Bris' side tried to find a way back after half-time, with Kevin Danso hitting the crossbar and Brian Brobbey denied by goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski. However, Dinamo defended their lead comfortably to take all three points.

Juventus 2-1 AZ Alkmaar

Juventus claimed a 2-1 victory over AZ Alkmaar, with Teun Koopmeiners scoring on his return to his former club. The midfielder enjoyed a successful evening against the team coached by his brother Peer, as the Italian side secured an important away win.

Benfica 3-1 Lech Poznan

Benfica maintained their perfect record with a 3-1 victory over Lech Poznan in Lisbon. The Portuguese side were given a late scare as the visitors finished strongly, but they held on to collect their fourth successive win and remain among the leading teams in the competition.

Real Sociedad 1-1 Lyon

Real Sociedad and Lyon shared the points after a 1-1 draw in Spain. Corentin Tolisso produced a fine finish for the French visitors, ensuring Lyon left with a share of the spoils after an evenly contested encounter.

Crystal Palace 1-1 Hoffenheim

Daichi Kamada scored a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser to rescue a point for 10-man Crystal Palace against Hoffenheim. The German visitors looked set to claim their first victory against English opposition, but Kamada's late intervention denied them all three points.
