Former Kaizer Chiefs and Royal AM midfielder Kabelo Mahlasela training with Magesi FC

The 34-year-old has been without a club since Royal AM's collapse at the end of last season. Over the years, Mahlasela has also turned out for Polokwane City, Bloemfontein Celtic and Royal Eagles.

This publication further revealed that the skilful midfielder arrived in Polokwane this week and began training with Magesi on Thursday. He will be looking to impress coach John Maduka - a familiar figure, having worked under him during his time at Royal AM.

Magesi have endured a tough start to life in the Premiership, winning just once and losing four of their opening five matches under Maduka. The Malawian mentor, however, remains confident that results will improve once his side sharpens its finishing.

"You were here when we played Stellenbosch. We had a good game, and it was one that should have been won with the chances we created," Maduka told FarPost.

"It's a work in progress. The boys are getting better and better, they are trying their best. We just need to start scoring because in every game we've created chances. Once we convert those chances, I believe we'll start winning matches."

Magesi will return to action after the FIFA international break with a daunting away fixture against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday, 17 September.
