Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has detailed his reasoning for omitting Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen from his 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

Amakhosi announced the departure of their interim head co-coaches following the completion of their contacts at the end of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.
With an experienced, season-campaigner expected to be announced by the Soweto giants ahead of the new season, the clear-out has continued with more backroom staff departures.
Mzoughi bids farewell after his two years with the club, posting: "Today, I say goodbye with a heart full of gratitude and pride.
"It has been a great honour and privilege to be part of this big club and this beautiful family.
"Wearing the Kaizer Chiefs badge and working every day for this institution was something very special for me.
"I want to thank the management, technical staff, players, and especially the supporters for the love, respect, and support you gave me during my journey at the club. I will always be grateful for the moments we shared together.
"To the goalkeepers, thank you for your trust, hard work, and commitment every single day. I am proud of your progress, and I truly believe the future is bright for all of you.
"Even if my journey with Kaizer Chiefs comes to an end today, this club will always remain in my heart. I leave with beautiful memories, valuable experiences, and great respect for everyone at the club.
"Thank you, Amakhosi! I wish the club nothing but success, trophies, and happiness in the future."
Chiefs confirmed Safi's exit, with a statement on their website reading: "Conditioning coach Majdi Safi has also left the Club following the final game of the season and the end of his contract.
"We would like to extend our gratitude to the coaches for their dedication and contribution, and wish them all the best in their future."
Former Mamelodi Sundowns coaches Pitso Mosimane and Manqoba Mngqithi are two names already linked with the vacant Amakhosi post.
