Hansi Flick confirms Rodri will miss Barcelona La Liga opener against Elche

Rodri joined Barcelona from Manchester City in a deal that could reach 76.5 million euros, with Flick revealing that the Spain international is expected to link up with the squad on Monday.

"He's very concentrated, focused, our plan is that he will arrive on Monday with the team," Flick said.

"This is the plan. He's a fantastic player, a leader, and his personality is very great."

Barcelona are still searching for another striker after Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres left the club, leaving Flick with several options for the opening game.

One player who has impressed during pre-season is 18-year-old Hamza Abdelkarim, who scored four goals in the club's friendly matches.

"Hamza is having a really great pre-season," Flick said.

"He's a number nine, he's young, and he has a lot of potential, and also he scored goals. This is the important thing when you're playing in this position, and he made a great job."

Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi can also operate through the middle, while Raphinha and Dani Olmo offer further attacking options.

Flick also confirmed that new signing Joao Cancelo will be available for the trip to the Martinez Valero.

"He's ready to play. He has unbelievable technique and a lot of passion," Flick said.
