Ian Wright calls on Arsenal to tie Thomas Partey to new deal

The 31-year-old Ghana international joined the Gunners from Atletico Madrid in 2020. He has gone on to play 162 games, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists.

Partey has been a key part of Arsenal's improved form under Mikel Arteta in recent seasons and was sorely missed in the Champions League semi-final first leg defeat to Paris Saint-Germain as he sat out with a suspension for a third yellow card.

His five-year contract with the club comes to an end at the end of the current campaign and it remains to be clear if Arsenal will retain his services.

Wright though feels the player is indispensable to Arsenal's future plans, saying on Sky Sports: "I don't see why we should be thinking about it, there's nothing to think about.

"Thomas Partey should be given another contract. It's not easy to find a midfielder like Thomas.

"We don't have many of them in the streets. He has shown that he deserves more and more."
