Inter Milan stumble leaves door open in Serie A title race

Inter Milan stumble leaves door open in Serie A title race

The Nerazzurri have hit a dip in form at a crucial stage of the season, winning just one of their last four matches in all competitions. That run has coincided with the absence of captain Lautaro Martinez, who suffered a calf injury during the Champions League clash against Bodo/Glimt in mid-February.

Without their leading striker, Inter have struggled for consistency. Under manager Cristian Chivu, they have now gone three matches without a win for the first time, raising questions about their momentum heading into the final stretch.

Their latest setback came in a 1-1 draw against Atalanta, a match that included controversial moments and further frustration for Chivu's side. Despite that, Inter still hold an eight-point lead over rivals AC Milan at the top of the table. Inter have nine matches remaining in the 2025-26 Serie A season.

Next up is a tricky away trip to Fiorentina, where Inter will be expected to respond. However, the challenge does not end there.

After the international break, Inter face a demanding run of fixtures, including clashes with AS Roma and Como 1907, both sides pushing for strong finishes to their campaigns. There is also a Coppa Italia semi-final second leg against Como, with a place in the final at the Stadio Olimpico at stake.

The good news for Inter is that Martínez is expected to return soon, which could provide a timely boost.

For now, the message is clear: the title is within reach, but Inter cannot afford any more slip-ups.
