Jarell Quansah settles in at Bayer Leverkusen's Brazil camp with high hopes

The former Liverpool star is bonding with teammates and gearing up for a big season under Erik ten Hag.

In his first major interview since the move, Quansah spoke to Sport BILD about his early experiences. "It has been a long flight to Brazil, and I was a bit tired yesterday, but being able to familiarize myself with everyone has been good so far," he said.

The centre-back, who signed a five-year contract, stressed a team-first approach. "It's more team-based. The better the team do, the better I'll do as well. The better we do together, the more I'll improve as a player," he said, eyeing success in the Bundesliga and Champions League.

Quansah also praised fellow Englishman Nathan Tella for helping him settle. "I've known of him, and he's an English lad who played up north in England. It's always good to have someone so friendly, and he has been able to get me involved with everyone," he said.

Leverkusen, rebuilding after losing Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool and Jonathan Tah to Bayern Munich, view Quansah as a defensive cornerstone.

The club celebrated his arrival on X, noting, "Sign a defender from Liverpool and give him no.4? Worked well last time! Thank you, @LFC fans, we'll take good care of Jarell!"

Quansah is excited about Leverkusen's new era under Ten Hag. "It's a great chance to prove ourselves and learn under a coach who plays attractive football," he told BILD.

With a 2027 buy-back clause of 60 million euros plus add-ons in place, Quansah is focused on thriving in Germany. "It's about finding my way," he said, ready to make his mark.
