Jobe Bellingham eyes 'long-term' Borussia Dortmund future

The 19-year-old midfielder joined Dortmund from Sunderland in June 2025 and signed a contract running until 2030. Although he initially struggled for regular starts, Bellingham became an important part of the team during the second half of the campaign.

Speaking to Dortmund's official club media channels, the England Under-21 international explained how a consistent run of matches had helped his confidence and overall development.

"When you're playing games, you start to feel a better rhythm," Bellingham said.

"When young players get a run of games, you see them develop. Even if it means you fail at first, you learn about your game, your teammates, the formation and the style of play.

"You gain rhythm the more you play, and I feel like I've been able to build confidence and more of a presence by playing more. I'm going to be here for a long time, so I'm happy that I'm building that rhythm."

Bellingham also revealed he remained determined to improve further and wanted to add more attacking quality to his performances.

"Every day I want to get better," he said. "I want to win every game I play, get on the ball and show what I can do physically and technically.

"I definitely want to get forward and contribute more in the final third. In the role I play, you have to be disciplined and think about the team, but I enjoy carrying the ball and I always want to do it as much as possible during a game."

Bellingham has made 42 appearances for Dortmund this season and registered four assists as he continued to establish himself in the Bundesliga.

Dortmund's next match comes away to Borussia Monchengladbach at Borussia-Park on 3 May.
