Kaizer Chiefs confirm Magesi clash postponed due to CAF Confederation Cup commitments

Kaizer Chiefs confirm Magesi clash postponed due to CAF Confederation Cup commitments

The decision comes as the Soweto giants focus on the start of their CAF Confederation Cup campaign, where they will face Egyptian side Al Masry away on 23 November.

The rescheduling reflects the logistical challenges of balancing domestic and continental commitments. Chiefs will have limited time to recover and prepare after returning from Egypt before their next league outing.

Following the postponed fixture, the club will turn their attention to another high-profile CAF encounter, taking on Zamalek at Peter Mokaba Stadium on 29 November.

"The match between Magesi FC and Kaizer Chiefs has been postponed due to our CAF Confederation Cup schedule and related travel logistics. The PSL will advise on the new date," the club confirmed in a statement on Friday.

Chiefs earned their place in this year's Confederation Cup by winning last season's Nedbank Cup, ending a decade-long trophy drought with a victory over fierce rivals Orlando Pirates at Moses Mabhida Stadium. This marks the club's first continental outing since their 2021 CAF Champions League final defeat to Al Ahly.

Despite the fixture congestion, Chiefs have made a strong start in the domestic league. The team sits third on the Betway Premiership table with 22 points from 11 matches, level with Orlando Pirates, who occupy second place on goal difference and hold a game in hand.

Currently under the guidance of co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze until the end of the season, Chiefs are navigating a challenging schedule that tests both squad depth and focus.

With continental ambitions now in full swing, the postponement of the Magesi clash ensures the team can prioritise preparation for their critical CAF matches while maintaining momentum in the league.
