Karim Zito claps back at Kwara coach as Asante Kotoko march on in CAF Cup

Kotoko completed the job in Nigeria with a 1-0 win at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium on Sunday, sealing a 5-3 aggregate victory after their thrilling 4-3 first-leg triumph in Accra.

Hubert Gyau delivered the knockout blow midway through the second half, punishing Kwara United and killing off hopes of a comeback.

The goal ensured the Ghanaian side progressed comfortably, despite Tunde's pre-match vow to overturn the deficit.

Speaking after the match, Zito wasted no time in responding to the Kwara coach's remarks.

"Kwara United's coach, who doesn't even have a license, was talking nonsense when I beat him in Ghana," Zito told the media.

"I taught him sense by beating him again today."

The Ghanaian tactician's fiery comments sparked headlines, but his side's discipline on the pitch ultimately spoke louder. Kotoko managed the game effectively, keeping Kwara at bay and striking when it mattered to continue their continental journey.

The Porcupine Warriors, twice winners of the CAF Champions League, now prepare for a daunting second-round showdown with Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club.

The first leg will be hosted in Ghana before Kotoko travel to Casablanca for the return fixture in October.

The clash promises to be one of the toughest tests of Kotoko's campaign, but with momentum on their side - and Zito's competitive fire burning bright - the Ghanaian outfit will fancy their chances of making a statement on the African stage.
