Kuldeep Yadav fiver puts India in control as gritty West Indies follow-on in Dehli

Shubman Gill surprised many by handing the ball to spinner Kuldeep Yadav to open the day and it paid off as Yadav struck three times in quick succession to help India tighten their grip on the match.

The West Indies went from being 156/4 to 178/8 by the lunchbreak, making 77 runs for 4 wickets in the first session which was dominated by the home side.

Khary Pierre and Anderson Phillip put together a gritty 47 run partnership for the ninth wicket before Jasprit Bumrah broke the stand, with Phillip and Seales adding another 26 runs for the final wicket.

However, the West Indians fell short of the 319 runs that were needed to avoid the follow on, with Yadav claiming the last wicket to get his five-wicket haul.

India looked to make some breakthroughs before tea after enforcing the follow-on and were duly rewarded when Tagenarine Chanderpaul fell to an excellent diving catch by skipper Gil at mid-wicket off Mohamed Siraj's bowling.

Washington Sundar then produced a wonderful delivery shortly after to bowl Alick Athanaze and leave the visitors reeling at 35/2 at the tea break.

John Campbell and Shai Hope then steadied the ship after tea, adding 79 runs between them before and Campbell registering the first half century for the visitors on the tour before the drinks break.

Washington Sundar had survived three DRS decisions before the drinks break including a bump ball catch on the first ball after tea.

Despite early challenges, Sundar managed to steady himself to an impressive half century (66*) as he and Campbell (87*) put on an impressive 138 run partnership to finish the day at 173/2 on day three, needing 85 runs to avoid an innings defeat.
