Xabi Alonso confirms Dani Ceballos will be staying at Real Madrid
Real Madrid have confirmed that midfielder Dani Ceballos will remain at the Santiago Bernabeu, halting speculation about a potential move away.
Los Blancos were caught taking their opponents a bit too lightly in LaLiga on Saturday after Mallorca started the match the better of the two teams and even managed to grab an early lead thanks to Vedat Muriqi's 18th minute strike.
However, that goal kicked Real into gear and they soon found there way back into the game.
They created plenty of chances and went from losing to winning the span of less than a minute after Arda Guler levelled matters in the 37th minute before Vinicius Junior put them ahead in the 38th.
Despite their dominance for the rest of the match, the home side were unable to add to their advantage in what turned out to be an unexpectedly tense 2-1 win.
Elsewhere, the surprise of the day in LaLiga came at Estadio de Mendizorrorza, where Alaves were able to hold Atletico Madrid to a 1-1 draw.
The goals came early, with Guiliano Simeone putting Atletico ahead in the seventh minute before Carlos Vicente levelled matters from the penalty spot in the 14th minute.
The visitors pushed for a winning goal, creating three times as many chances as the hosts but were unable to find another way through Alaves solid defensive setup.
Real Oviedo beat Real Sociedad 1-0 thanks to Leander Dendoncker's 40th minute strike while Sevilla had a successful trip to Girona after goals from Alfon Gonzalez (30') and Isaac Romero (55') handed them a 2-0 win.
