Leny Yoro would like to see Casemiro and Harry Maguire stay at Man Utd

Casemiro reminded supporters of his influence during Sunday's match against Aston Villa, opening the scoring early in the second half with a powerful header from a corner.

The goal moved the 34-year-old onto seven in the current Premier League campaign - his best single-season scoring return in Europe's five major leagues.

Old Trafford responded warmly. Casemiro received a standing ovation when he was substituted, while supporters in the Stretford End chanted "one more year, one more year, Casemiro" during the match and repeated the call again after the final whistle.

Despite the strong backing from fans and teammates, the midfielder's future has already been settled. United confirmed in January that Casemiro will leave when his contract expires in June, after the club agreed to his request to publicly confirm the upcoming departure.

A video of the Brazilian explaining his decision was subsequently released on the club's official channels.

"Everyone wanted him to stay, he's a really important player for us, he showed it again today," said Yoro.

"Even in the dressing room, every day, he has the experience that no one else has in the team. He won everything, so this helped us a lot in the games and even outside the pitch."

Sources at the club indicated the decision not to renew his contract had been taken well before the announcement, and there are currently no plans to revisit it.

Maguire's situation remains unresolved. The defender is also out of contract at the end of the season, though discussions about extending his stay are ongoing.

Yoro added: "Yeah, having Harry in the team is good for us. If he can stay next season, it's really good for us, so I hope he's going to extend his contract and he can stay with us. We'll see, we'll see anyway."
