Thomas Tuchel: Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka tried to play for England despite risks
Thomas Tuchel has defended Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka after both withdrew from England's squad ahead of Tuesday's friendly against Japan.

Oso, who came through the academy at Sevilla FC, had impressed in 2026 with a series of energetic performances. Naturally a left-back, he had been deployed further forward as a winger under former coach Matias Almeyda, a role that showcased his attacking instincts.
The numbers backed up his growing reputation. Oso had made 16 appearances this season, including seven league starts, scoring once and providing three assists. He played a direct role in both goals during Sevilla's 5-2 defeat to FC Barcelona, and earlier delivered a key assist in the derby draw against Real Betis.
Scaloni made Argentina's interest clear when speaking to Diario AS.
"We've watched several of Oso's matches and he's played very well," he said. "He's on a list of players we're monitoring. He's eligible for selection."
Born in Spain to Argentine parents, Oso qualified for both nations but had yet to represent either at youth level. Spain boss Luis de la Fuente had not commented publicly on the situation, leaving the door open for Argentina to act.
At club level, Sevilla faced increasing pressure to secure his long-term future. Oso's current deal ran until 2027, but without a renewal before the summer, the club risked losing leverage in any future negotiations.
With Sevilla locked in a fight for survival, Oso was expected to play a key role in the decisive final weeks—while interest from Argentina added another layer to his rapidly rising profile.
