Liverpool brace for 'possible' Mohamed Salah departure

Liverpool brace for 'possible' Mohamed Salah departure

Since joining from Roma for a reported 36.9 million pounds in the summer of 2017, Salah has been a pivotal figure for the Reds, scoring 237 goals in 383 appearances, and cementing his place as one of the club's all-time top goal scorers.

Despite Liverpool's strong performance this season, with a six-point lead in the Premier League, a spot in the Carabao Cup final, and a robust run in the Champions League, Salah's contract situation has become a focal point of concern.

His current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, and there has been little progress on securing a new contract, according to Football Insider.

Recent reports from Givemesport have confirmed that Saudi clubs, particularly Al-Hilal, are keen on securing Salah's services. They have not only approached Liverpool regarding a possible early transfer but are also ready to offer Salah a lucrative deal of 65 million pounds over two years.

Liverpool's ownership, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), have reportedly shown willingness to let Salah leave in early June, ahead of the Club World Cup, thanks to an exceptional transfer window approved by FIFA, which allows player registrations from June 1 to June 10.

Salah himself has not been silent on his future. In his last public comments in late November, he stated, "We are almost in December and I haven't received any offers yet to stay in the club. I'm probably more out than in.

"You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end, it is not in my hands."

The situation is not isolated to Salah; both Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also nearing the end of their contracts.

The Egyptian media, including Roya News, have expressed shock at rumours suggesting that Salah and Van Dijk had already agreed to new terms, which sources close to Salah have vehemently denied, accusing Liverpool of distraction tactics.

As Liverpool fans brace for possible changes, the club's management, while not ready to give up on Salah, are increasingly facing the reality of a significant squad overhaul.

The departure of Salah could mark the end of an era at Anfield, with implications not just for the team's performance but also for the fans who have seen him become an integral part of Liverpool's recent successes.
