Liverpool extend contract of goalkeeper Freddie Woodman

The 29-year-old made four first-team appearances after arriving on a free transfer last summer and has now been rewarded with a new deal following an impressive first season at the club.

Woodman said he was thrilled to extend his stay and admitted the opportunity to continue representing Liverpool was an easy decision.

"I'm absolutely delighted, to be honest," Woodman told the club's official website.

"Off the back of last season, personally it was amazing for me and then to come back in pre-season and there be an offer for me from the club to stay here longer, I was made up.

"I'm just so happy that I could re-sign here and be a part of this amazing club."

The goalkeeper also reflected on the connection he built with Liverpool supporters after making his first-team appearances, particularly during the match against Crystal Palace.

"I feel pride and so many emotions, really," he said.

"Last season I came in and did the role I was doing and then when I got the opportunity to play, especially the Palace game, it just felt like a real connection to the fans and just a massive understanding of them.

"Now I get the chance to stay here for longer and to be a part of it again is unbelievable, and me and my family are delighted."

Meanwhile, Liverpool have confirmed that young goalkeeper Armin Pecsi will spend the 2026-27 season on loan with Austrian Bundesliga side TSV Hartberg.

The 21-year-old Hungary international joined Liverpool a year ago and featured regularly for the club's Under-21 side last season. He was also named in the senior matchday squad on five occasions.

The loan move will give Pecsi the chance to gain regular first-team experience after making his senior international debut for Hungary last month.
