Luciano Spalletti: Zion Suzuki is prohibitively expensive

Luciano Spalletti: Zion Suzuki is prohibitively expensive

It is no secret that Juventus have been on the search for a new No 1, with the club being linked to several top goalkeepers including Suzuki, Emiliano Martinez and Guglielmo Vicario.

However, their determination to control their spending has priced them out of any deals, with Aston Villa asking too much for Martinez and, now, the revelation that the demands for Suzuki are also too high.

"I like Suzuki a lot, because he's a goalkeeper with great prospects," Spalletti said.

"If you look at the papers, he is linked with all the biggest clubs, but at this moment he is prohibitively expensive, because there are many complications.

"We've also got to take into account our spending."

Suzuki had a solid season with Parma in 2025-26, conceding 29 goals in 20 appearances with five clean sheets.

With Juventus being priced out of deals for both Suzuki and Martinez, they are expected to shift their focus to Vicario, who appears to have lost his position as first-choice goalkeeper at Tottenham Hotspur under Roberto de Zerbi and could, therefore, be more affordable.

"Vicario is an experienced goalkeeper who has already gone through some situations, one of them serious," Spalletti said.

"We have to understand why a club like Tottenham decided to leave him out, what evaluations they made."
