The Brazilians are preparing to defend both their Betway Premiership crown and CAF Champions League title, with reports from Nigerian publication Soccernet claiming the Pretoria giants are monitoring the Al Hilal Omdurman attacker.
Adetunji joined the Sudanese champions last year and featured in their run to the CAF Champions League quarter-finals. Although he scored just twice in 11 appearances last season, the 28-year-old made an impression against Sundowns after finding the back of the net when the two sides met in the continental competition.
The Nigerian forward has built a reputation as an experienced campaigner, having represented 13 clubs during his professional career. He began his journey in the Nigerian league with Plateau United, Lobi Stars, Enyimba, Rivers United and Abia Warriors before moving abroad in 2021.
His overseas career has included spells with North Macedonian side FC Shkupi, Slovenian outfit Celje, Serbian club Cukaricki, Kosovo champions Ballkani and current employers Al Hilal, exposing him to different leagues and continental football.
Adetunji's versatility is viewed as one of his biggest strengths. Comfortable leading the line or operating on the wing, he combines physicality with a strong aerial presence and relentless work rate, qualities that could complement Sundowns' attacking options.
According to Transfermarkt, the Nigerian is valued at around €500,000, a figure that is unlikely to present a major obstacle should Sundowns decide to formalise their interest.
At international level, Adetunji has one senior cap for Nigeria. He made his Super Eagles debut in a friendly against Mexico in 2021 during Gernot Rohr's tenure as head coach.
While no official offer has been confirmed, Sundowns continue to be linked with several players as they look to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts and retaining their status as African champions.
