Mamelodi Sundowns sign Deano van Rooyen after Orlando Pirates exit

The 29-year-old was a somewhat surprise departure for the Buccaneers following the treble winning campaign under Moroccan head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, with the player making 14 appearances for the club in all competitions in the 2025/26 season.

He was officially unveiled on Sunday on the club's social media channels following a week of speculation about the move to the Chloorkop based side.

Van Rooyen becomes the fifth signing for the African champions during the current transfer window after Siyanda Ndlovu, Cassius Mailula, Tsiki Ntsabeleng and former Stellenbosch compatriot Antonio van Wyk.

The Tshwane giants have been forced to look for options on the right-back position following the long-term injury to Bafana Bafana international Khuliso Mudau.
