Man City complete 65 million pound signing of Iliman Ndiaye from Everton

Man City complete 65 million pound signing of Iliman Ndiaye from Everton

The 26-year-old Senegal international has signed a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium, becoming the latest addition to a busy transfer window for the Citizens.

Ndiaye arrives after City's pursuit of Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo failed to produce a deal. Liverpool rejected an 80 million pound offer for the Netherlands international, with concerns over whether they could secure a replacement before the transfer window closed.

The move also ends Tottenham's interest in Ndiaye. Spurs had reached an agreement with Everton on Friday, but the proposed transfer collapsed after Richarlison failed to agree personal terms with his former club.

Ndiaye spent two seasons at Everton after joining from Marseille in 2024, making 74 appearances and scoring 21 goals. His route to the Premier League has been unusual, having made his professional debut in England's seventh tier just over six years ago.

City had been looking to strengthen their wide options after allowing Savio and Omar Marmoush to join Tottenham. The need for another winger was underlined in Friday's victory over Crystal Palace, when City had no winger on the bench and used Phil Foden in a wide role.

Ndiaye, who becomes City's seventh signing of the transfer window, said the opportunity represented the fulfilment of a long-held ambition.

"I've worked my whole life for an opportunity like this," he said. "City are one of the best clubs in the world and I've seen them win everything as I've grown up.

"To be able to write my own chapter in a story that special is the chance of a lifetime and I'm determined to grab it with both hands."
