Man City lift trophy after Antoine Semenyo nets FA Cup winner against Chelsea

Having already lifted the Carabao Cup in March, City completed a domestic cup double and handed Guardiola his 20th major honour as manager of Manchester City.

The win also kept alive their slim hopes in the Premier League title race, although they still require an Arsenal stumble to stand a realistic chance of reclaiming the crown.

After losing the previous two FA Cup finals, City were determined not to fall short again, but they initially struggled to penetrate Chelsea's organised defence.

Chelsea, meanwhile, threatened first when Moises Caicedo met a delivery with a powerful header that appeared destined for the net before Rodri produced a crucial clearance.

Enzo Fernandez later came close as well, flicking an effort onto the roof of the net, but Chelsea were ultimately punished midway through the contest.

Erling Haaland drove a low cross into the penalty area where Semenyo, holding off Levi Colwill, produced a brilliant right-heel flick to beat Robert Sanchez.

The strike was Semenyo's 10th goal since joining City from AFC Bournemouth in January, with the winger continuing the impressive form that has made him one of the club's standout signings.

City finished the stronger side and nearly added to their lead when Sanchez tipped Matheus Nunes' effort onto the post before also denying Rayan Cherki with an excellent save.

For Chelsea, the defeat deepened an already frustrating campaign. The London side failed to score in a Wembley final for a fifth straight occasion and missed the opportunity to qualify for the Europa League.
