Kevin De Bruyne's Napoli move sparks excitement in Serie A
Napoli have pulled off a stunning coup by signing Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer, marking one of the most significant moves of the 2025 summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old Netherlands international has signed a five-year contract and will be eligible to feature in City's opening Club World Cup match on June 18 against Moroccan side Wydad AC.
Reijnders arrives at the Etihad following a standout season in Serie A, where he recorded the highest combined goals and assists total of any midfielder in the league.
"I am ecstatic to be signing for Manchester City," Reijnders said in a club statement. "City are one of the biggest teams in the world, with the best coach, world-class players, and outstanding facilities. Under Pep Guardiola, City have won so many titles, and I want to help keep that going with more success in the coming years."
Reijnders becomes City's fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of defender Rayan At-Nouri, winger Rayan Cherki, and backup goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli.
City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak recently stated the club aimed to act quickly in the transfer market, saying the squad would be "ready" ahead of the Club World Cup. The first registration window for the summer closed on Tuesday and will reopen on Monday, allowing clubs to finalise further business.
Reijnders is expected to add depth and versatility to a midfield already packed with talent, as City look to build on their recent domestic and European dominance.
