Motsepe Foundation Championship champions Durban City to finally to lift trophy

After winning the league with 58 points from 30 games, the KwaZulu-Natal side looked poised for a straightforward trophy lift.

Yet, the joyous moment turned into weeks of anxiety after JDR Stars challenged the registration of midfielder Saziso Magawana, throwing Durban City's triumph into question and their promotion to the Betway Premiership.

For Durban City's players and coaching staff, it was a harsh twist in a season defined by grit and determination. However now, after weeks of legal wrangling, Durban City will finally get their moment of vindication.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirmed the official trophy presentation in partnership with the Motsepe Foundation, set for Tuesday, 10 June 2025.

It's a date that represents more than just silverware - it's a reward for a team that refused to let off-field controversy define them.

For Durban City, the wait may have been agonizing, but it has only deepened their sense of unity. And when the players finally hoist the trophy, it will be a moment earned not just by goals scored and matches won - but by resilience in the face of adversity.
